My books

After lots of success in the non-fiction field I turned to novel-writing and fell flat on my face. Refusing to be down-hearted – well only for a bit – I moved on to self-publishing, and I haven’t looked back. My latest novel is officially released on Thursday 18th April 2024, but is available to buy now from Amazon.

Young woman and dog in silhouette running along a street at night
No 1 in Tabitha’s Table mystery series

Danger with Lashings of Caviar

When Tabby wakes up in a rubbish skip – again – she decides the time has come for action. The bad guys might have got away with it so far but it’s time to turn the tables.

With the help of her mum, a disgraced policeman, a farting dog, and two homeless friends Tabby is determined to bring the handsome criminal millionaire to justice.

And she was only supposed to be making a few sandwiches.

The Tree, Granny, and me

When Granny finds out her favourite tree is destined for the chop she resolves to stop it. She enlists the help of the residents of her retirement village, while Alysha gets her school friends involved. Between them they come up with all sorts of wheezes to stop its destruction but when the developer gives the order to chop it looks as if it’s all been in vain.

Is there nobody who can stop the axe falling?

This Time Next Year

This Time Next Year tells the story of one year in Alison’s life, starting on the eve of her 50th birthday. When her divorce papers arrive in the post along with her birthday cards she wonders if life can get any worse.

“I am a fifty year old divorcee with a hangover. I might as well go the whole hog, bleach my hair, buy a black leather mini skirt and hang round dimly-lit bars.
“John Morris, my favourite client, an old gent with old-fashioned manners, who always pays me a compliment, came in this morning. He looked me up and down and said, ‘You look different this morning, my dear. I hope you’re not going down with something.’
“I was tempted to tell him that it’s too late, I have already succumbed. I am old and unloved.”

This Year Maybe

This Year Maybe takes up Alison’s story picking up a few years after we originally met her.

Alison and David have been engaged for so long that even Alison’s mother has given up asking when, but it’s second time around for both of them and they’re not in any particular hurry.

That said, Alison is beginning to wonder if living with her has put David off the idea of marriage so when he suggests they set a date she is delighted. But that date is six months’ away and a lot can happen in six months – especially if you’re Alison!

‘My son’s been arrested, Great-aunt Millie’s fallen in love, my best friend suspects her husband of having an affair, and I still need to lose weight. How on earth can I think about getting married?’

The Dog-walking Club

For Dogwalkers Anonymous every dog walk brings a new drama as the lives of this unlikely collection of people and their dogs become intertwined.

A supermarket shelf-stacker, a stay-at-home dad, an elderly widow and a freelance photographer sound an unlikely bunch but they have one thing in common: they all walk their dogs in Beauville Park at roughly the same time each morning. And that’s enough for Angela, bored organiser without a cause, to get them all together to form Dog-walkers Anonymous.

A Cop for Christ

Now this may say Mike DiSanza on the cover but if you look on the back in very small print you’ll read, ‘He has written this book with freelance writer, Liz Hinds.’ Meaning he told me stories and I wrote the book. Such is the life of a ghost-writer.

As a cop in the NYPD MikeDiSanza patrolled the streets of Harlem for twenty-two years.

“I was a young cop experiencing my first riot in my first summer on the streets. I’d read about riots in the papers, seen them on television, but nothing had prepared me for this.

“This wasn’t like tv. This was real. I could see the anger in people; I could feel the hatred coming out of them.

“Amid the noise and violence, the arrests and injuries, my over-riding emotion was one of terrible fear. I remember thinking, ‘Is this what I’m gonna be facing all my working life?'”
